My mother told me I should start a blog...
*Rolls eyes* There are over a hundred million blogs in existence (not exaggerating -- the blogosphere is almost as vast as the ocean). Why didn't she tell me to start a blog about, hmm, 10 years ago? Perhaps I'd be sitting on 2 mil a year, blogging from my beachfront property while sipping wine and munching on Extra Toasty Cheez-Its at sunset. (You're getting to know me so well already.)
But alas, as with most things (ok, all things), she was right. Why not start a blog? I know I'll at least have one reader...
So, here I am! Blogging from my almost-beachfront property (read: studio apartment) while sipping (cheap) wine and munching on Extra Toasty Cheez-Its at sunset.
At 29 years old I went to the ER with what I thought was going to be a kidney stone and ended up in the ICU with a bilateral pulmonary embolism. A blood clot had formed in my leg, shattered and traveled to my lungs. I was in bad shape. Long story short(ish) -- I'm here. I'm here and I'm strangely grateful for all of it. A strong current can be terrifying if you're out in the middle of the ocean braving it alone; but what I've come to realize is that we're never alone. We're in it together. Life. Human beings. Holding each other up -- anchoring each other with grace to what's true. We are beautiful, strong, powerful beings.
Maybe this blog will help you see the beauty, strength and power that has always been in you and that is all around you. Maybe it will help you navigate the deep seas and keep sailing toward the joy of possibility.
Or, maybe it will just make my mom proud.
Either way, I'm happy you're here.
